A carat is unit of measurement to measure the weight of gemstones and a karat is the measurement indicating proportion of gold in metal alloy.

A certificate of purity & fineness of gold is called as hallmarking issued by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS). Hallmarking on gold shows that the gold used for jewellery making adheres to international standards of purity. I.e. BIS Logo, Purity Number, Assay Centre Logo, Jewellery Mark, Code Year of Hallmarking.

Prevent metal from getting scratched, avoid contact with perfumes & sprays, wipe jewellery with soft cloth after use and always keep them in velvet jewellery boxes.
